When I started freelancing full time, I got more rejections (or just plain silence) than assignments. I almost quit, but my writer friends' encouragement helped put me back on track. Hoping to take control of my creative life and build a cheerleading squad for other writers, I created Bylines Writer's Desk Calendar where emerging and established authors wrote about why and how and when they write.  This is a beautiful package - great layout, clever cover. Even more important, the variety of entries from writers is remarkable; there are so many interesting and inspiring stories that combine to provide a real sense of community.
